Human Genetics Research & Training Center Ltd. (HGRTC) is actively involved in the advancement of human genetics and genomics, particularly in the context of human disease, through advanced research, education, and specialized training. In addition to performing these services, the scientists of this center work on basic and translational research projects aimed at decoding the molecular causes of numerous human diseases, including cancer, diabetes, skin conditions, and heart diseases. The majority of the present research is focused on creating more effective treatment and diagnostic plans. The Centre's unique blend of expertise allows scientists and clinicians to address common-interest problems within a single institutional framework. This is a challenging feat in Bangladesh because medicine and science have traditionally differentiated of each other. It is anticipated that the emerging field of genetics would serve as a unifying factor and stimulate the development of a genuinely "biomedical" science of heredity in health and diseases. To start addressing this, HGRTC is providing short-term technical training in cytogenetics and molecular biology procedures, including both fundamental and clinical domains.
